December 2011 Volunteering

Thursday 24th November 2011

The Mendip Hills AONB Volunteer Group will be undertaking two practical tasks in December, both at Deer Leap near Westbury-sub-Mendip, as part of their on-going winter work programme.

On Saturday 3 December the group will be working on a dry stone walling task.  All are welcome to join in whether you have walling experience or are keen to learn a new skill.

On Tuesday 13 December the group will be working on a scrub clearance task carrying out valuable habitat management.   As the cut scrub will be burned on site, there will be a warming fire to gather round for lunch!  All are welcome to join in whether or not you have volunteered before.

The volunteer group meets once every fortnight, offers a friendly relaxed approach and helps to carry out a variety of tasks and duties to help conserve the AONB.  If you have some spare time and would be interested in finding out more or alternatively, coming along on one of the days, then get in touch with Owen Jones on (01761) 462338 or 07770 646161 or email

Tasks run from 10am – 3pm with instructions, tools and training given on the day. All you need to bring is your lunch, drink and yourselves!
