European Litter Pick

Monday 25th June 2012

To mark European Day of Parks Conservation Day on Sunday May 27th the AONB Advanced Young Rangers joined forces with volunteers from the Mendip Society to carry out a litter pick of a 4 mile section of the Strawberry Line Heritage Trail.  The day was the result of a workshop at last year’s Europarc Federation International Junior Ranger Camp where young people from protected areas across Europe agreed that litter was one of the greatest threats to their local areas.  The Advanced Young Rangers collected many bags of litter from the trail between Axbridge and the Sandford Station Heritage Centre where they met up with another group of volunteers, including the local scouts, who had litter-picked the trail between Congresbury and Sandford.
