Advanced Young Rangers NOV2012

This month the AONB Advanced Young Rangers joined forces with staff and volunteers from the National Trust, Somerset Wildlife Trust and Butterfly Conservation for a scrub clearing task at Collard Hill near Street.  The aim for the day was to clear dense bramble and blackthorn scrub from a south facing slope of the hill to help re-establish open grassland and, in particular, wild thyme as part of work to reintroduce the large blue butterfly.  Find out more about the unusual life cycle of the large blue butterfly on the National Trust web site.
