The Bowland Award is presented annually by the National Association for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (NAAONB) for “the best project, best practice or outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs)”.
Previous recipients of the Award have included the Rt. Hon The Lord Renton of Mount Harry, the Rt Hon Alun Michael MP, Professor Adrian Phillips CBE, Butterfly Conservation and Lincolnshire Chalk Streams project who received the Award last year. They were recipients of the hen harrier bronze for the work they had done locally which involved dynamic and progressive initiatives using best practice in enhancing and raising the profile of chalk streams.
The NAAONB Board is now seeking nominations for 2013.
To link with the Landscapes for Life Conference 2013 theme of water, this year the Board is looking to reward “the best project, best practice or outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty” which promotes the landscape scale conservation or celebration of the water environment.
A short list of five nominees will be drawn up and NAAONB member organisations will be asked to vote for the 2013 winner.
For projects/outstanding contribution in the Mendip Hills AONB the Nomination form is available from mendiphillsaonb.org.uk
Closing date for nominations is Thursday 20th June.
Voting starts Friday 21st June and will close on Friday 5th July.
The Award Ceremony will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday 16th July at Landscapes for Life Conference 2013 so please ensure that your nominee(s) will be available to attend should they prove successful.
