An exciting programme of events on Black Down and Burrington Ham in the Mendip Hills AONB starts in August to raise awareness of the importance of this special landscape.
The programme of free events taking place from August to October includes biking, horseriding and walking activities with experienced guides and a storytelling experience linked to the wildlife and historical importance of the area. You can learn new skills such as orienteering or how to use natural materials to produce works of art.
‘These events present a great way to have fun, try new activities and discover the fascinating wildlife and heritage of Black Down and Burrington Commons. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment as there are a limited number of places on some activities’.said Stuart Bardsley Discovering Black Down Project Officer.
The events programme is part of a three year project to raise awareness of the importance of this site and the need for appropriate management to conserve and enhance its wildlife and heritage whilst ensuring that people can continue to enjoy this popular site for recreation.
