Free Family events in the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
If you are looking for ideas on how to entertain the children during the long summer holidays, then why not bring them along to one of the free activity days on Burrington Ham. Every Thursday for the first four weeks of the holidays there will be an afternoon packed with games and activities to help you explore the fascinating history and wildlife of the Burrington Commons.
Summer Safari 1.30pm, Thursday 28th July – discover the amazing variety of wildlife that can be found on Burrington Ham at this time of year. With lots of games and activities this will be a fun filled afternoon for all the family.
Tremendous Trees 1.30pm, Thursday 4th August – find out all the wonderful things that trees provide for us and the wildlife of the Burrington Commons. As well as lots of games and activities you will learn some amazing things about trees that you never knew before.
Animal Antics 1.30pm, Thursday 11th August – find out all about the fascinating animals that live on the commons both now and in the past. Join in the games and activities and discover things you never knew about the beasts of Burrington.
Have a go at Orienteering 1.30pm, Thursday 18 August – come and try out this fun outdoor adventure activity. Use the map and compass provided to find all the markers. No previous experience needed as expert instruction is provided on the day.
