New Eyes on the View

Thursday 2nd February 2017

The Mendip Hills AONB Unit has new eyes on the view from February 1st. Cindy Carter is the unit’s new Landscape Planning Officer.

A key role of the AONB Unit is to comment on planning applications in and around the area. The Unit comments on a range of planning applications considered to have an adverse effect on the Mendip Hills AONB, these include applications for large scale solar pv development and applications for wind turbines, agricultural buildings, holiday accommodation and domestic development in sensitive locations.

Cindy was previously working as a Senior Planning Officer for Swindon Borough Council and will work 2.5 days a week for the Unit. She said, ‘This is such a fantastic opportunity for me to work in this special landscape. I’m really looking forward to helping with the community and planning authorities in conserving and enhancing the area.’
