Warming up for Naturally Healthy Month

Thursday 12th April 2018

May sees a month long programme of events across Somerset helping you connect with nature to promote health and wellbeing. With proven health benefits the key thing is to #StepOutside and #LetNatureNurture.

Chris brings a group of adults with learning difficulties to the Mendip Hills every week. Watch Chris’ experience of being part of the Somerset’s Nature and Wellbeing Project in this video.

As part of our ongoing work to promote these benefits our Nature & Wellbeing Officer runs a Somerset wide programme to help communities who are currently not accessing the hills, but for whom access to the natural environment may be of great benefit to them. The project provides supported visits and volunteering opportunities. Funded by Somerset Public Health, the project focuses on targeting communities that lie geographically close to the 3 AONBs, specifically:

  • Mendip Hills: Wells, Cheddar and Burnham-on-Sea
  • Blackdown Hills: Taunton, Chard, Wellington
  • Quantock Hills: Taunton, Bridgwater and Williton
