May sees the start of Naturally Healthy Month a perfect reason to step outside and enjoy our open spaces, a chance to take in our beautiful surroundings and feel happier and healthier for it.
Taking time out to experience the natural landscape and connect to nature is important with clear evidence suggesting that this offers huge benefits to our physical health, mental health and wellbeing.
During Naturally Healthy Month there are a series of events taking place across Somerset for you to get involved with including foraging, forest bathing, walks, wild days out and more. You can find the full programme here.
The AONB Unit is organising a Wild Family Day on Sunday 26th May from 11am-3pm. The day will be filled with bug and reptile spotting, land art, den building, bug house building and more. Bookings can be made through our events page.
As part of Naturally Healthy May 2019 we are also running an art competition that shows us the feeling you get when you spend time in nature and could be a painting, drawing, photo, poetry or creative writing.
There are some great ‘outdoor’ prizes on offer and a chance to have your work displayed in an exhibition.
Entries must be submitted by May 24th. They can be submitted digitally, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org via post to Does Happiness Grow on Trees?, Quantock Hills AONB, Fyne Court, Broomfield, Somerset TA5 2EQ.
