Exploitation and Legacy – Why were the Romans drawn to the Mendip Hills and what did they leave?
Dr Andrew Newton, a member of Legio XIIII – The Roman Military Research Society will march you through the powerful story of the Roman impact on Mendip, from their invasion to their exploitation of this area. Was it all take, take, take or did they leave a legacy for us all?
This will be a fully interactive session suitable for families (children from 7 years and up) with lots of things to hold and look at and short walk into the Roman lead mining area in Blackmoor Reserve.
Please note there is a morning and afternoon option:
Meet at Charterhouse Centre.
Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for a Mendip walk. No trainers!
Children: 7+ welcome
