A guided walk with the Mendip Hills AONB Volunteer Rangers from the Blackmoor Reserve taking in Velvet Bottom, Longwood and Black Down offering spectacular views of the Mendip Hills AONB and beyond.
The walk will explore how over thousands of years people have been exploiting the mineral wealth of Mendip (and some other bits of local history as well!)
Distance: 5 miles
Cost: £4.00 donation to the Mendip Hills Fund (includes an Easter treat and hot drink en route).
Terrain: Mostly moderate but with some strenuous climbs. It may also be muddy in places.
What to bring: Waterproof walking boots, waterproof Jacket and trousers. Warm clothing including hat and gloves. Walking sticks or poles although not essential are a helpful aid in slippery areas. Bring plenty of water.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short lead as the rote passes through farmland with cattle and sheep grazing.
