English Heritage is running a training week in geophysical techniques at East Harptree 14th- 18th Ju
With some of the wettest weather in a while, ground conditions are now fairly wet to say the least. This has the effect of increasing soil erosion as the rainwater easily washes away the surface of the paths and tracks. If you are a user, be it wheeled, on horseback or on foot, please try to avoid using the easily damaged used routes during wet conditions.
Wet and cold weather can take its toll on us as well, so make sure you give your clothing and equipment a check over to make sure its serviceable. Boots do wear, and smooth soles can lead to slips and falls. Waterproof clothing needs re proofing occasionally, and a trip to your nearest outdoor clothing shop to get some advice and the right products is well worth while!
Spring is coming however, and I have already seen Primroses in flower. The evenings are starting to open up, and when the sun shines it really can feel quite spring like. Don’t get too excited though, as there is always the chance of a cold spell !
